PRESIDENTS OF MONGOLIA AND REPUBLIC OF KOREA MEET IN VLADIVOSTOK

PRESIDENTS OF MONGOLIA AND REPUBLIC OF KOREA MEET IN VLADIVOSTOK

On the sidelines of their attendance in the Third Eastern Economic Forum, President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga and President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in met in Vladivostok, Russia, on September 6.

Present at the meeting were, Minister for Road and Transport Developmnet of Mongolia D.Ganbat, Chief of Staff of the Office of the President Z.Enkhbold and Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs B.Battsetseg along with other related officials.

At the beginning of this meeting, Mr. Moon Jae-in extended congratulations to the President of Mongolia for being elected the head of state of Mongolia. President Battulga also answered with congratulations because the both presidents have recently been inaugurated.

President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in said: “President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga is a politician who was born from business, and has been elected to parliament and worked as a Minister twice. I do not hesitate that he will do a good job. We have a common aspiration in which we strive to fight corruption and develop our country.

Mongolia and the Republic of Korea have brotherly connections in terms of language and geography. Many people from Mongolia work and live in Korea, where they also make huge contribution to the economy.

I wish our meeting can become an impetus to the growth of our bilateral relations”.

While mentioning that he studied the practices of great leaders who led their countries to stride of growth in very short time, President Battulga expressed that he believes in the successful cooperation with the President of the Republic of Korea, although it is only their first meeting, in strengthening friendship between the two countries.

The President of Mongolia asked his S.Korean counterpart to maintain flexible policy towards the Mongolian citizens who live in the Republic of Korea and shared his hope that Mongolians will be travelling to the Republic of Korea mostly on tourism purposes instead of laboring in the near future. He also requested the South Korean President to pay attention to making the travelling to the Republic of Korea for Mongolian citizens easier, and attach more importance to the visa-waiver agreement.

In response, President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in promised to focus on the policies towards Mongolians employed in his country. The dignitaries also discussed about ensuring security in Northeast Asian region and broadening the regional cooperation, and agreed to activate the operations of the Ulaanbaatar Dialogue and the Greater Tumen Initiative.

The two presidents unanimously agreed to the interest to widen ties in all sectors of cooperation and invited each other to pay visits.
