PRESIDENT BATTULGA: “A NATIONAL HERO MUST BE BORN IN EVERY KIND OF SPORTS”

President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga received representatives of national teams of judo, freestyle wrestling, boxing and basketball, members of which had won medals at Olympic Games and world championships, on September 20.

“Success of all generations of athletes restores national pride; and raising your state flag and sounding your state anthem is astonishment itself. As sport is the best and most viable option for children and young people in spending their leisure time, every President of Mongolia attached greater importance to sports,” he said and wished best of success in the upcoming tournaments and the 2020 Olympic Games.

“Special attention should be paid to promote public physical development and growth of top kinds of sports; and national heroes must be born in all kinds of sports”, he stated.

The goal can be achieved by focusing on junior championships on the regional and global levels, added the President. The latter reminded that athletes who accomplished a lot in their teen age become more established competitors as adults.

President Battulga noted that Paralympic athletes deserve equal support, as well.
The guests who were present at this meeting shared challenges they have been facing, such as low salary for trainers and athletes regardless of their success in international competitions: for instance, Coach Sh.Tsevelmaa has been working without receiving salary due to shortage of vacancy in the national team.
