AMBASSADORS OF BELGIUM, FINLAND AND AUSTRIA PRESENT LETTERS OF CREDENCE
On October 31, newly accredited Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium, the Republic of Finland and the Republic of Austria presented letters of credence to President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga.
After the ceremony, the President received the Ambassadors for bilateral meetings.
During the meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium, Mr Mark Vinck, the latter and the President talked about ongoing cooperation in the Project on Upgrade of the Diagnosis and Treatment Center of Western Region of Mongolia. The dignitaries highlighted that there is a wide capacity for the two countries to promote cooperation in business.
The President asked the Ambassador to visit the countryside to get better acquainted with the country, and underlined the importance of prompt completion of the Project on Upgrade of Western Region Diagnosis and Treatment Center. He also noted that promoting cooperation in culture, especially, in the film industry which is an area where the mutual interests of two countries would cross.
President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga received Mr Jarno Syrjälä, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to Mongolia, and said Finland is one of the countries that openly interacted with Mongolia since our country had socialist system. The President expressed interest in promoting development of ice hockey and bandy which are very common in Finland. He also expressed interest in promoting ties in plant-nursery and forestry.
Ambassador Jarno Syrjälä promised to put all efforts in strengthening the bilateral ties. He said Finnish side will be willing to share its expertise in mining with Mongolia. Reportedly, Finnish wrestlers visit Mongolia for training each year.
President Battulga suggested it would be great if the Mongolian and Finnish athletes train together for the 2020 Olympics.
During his meeting with the Mongolian President, Ambassador of Austria Friedrich Stift extended congratulations to President Battulga on behalf of the President and Government of the Republic of Austria. This year marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations of the two countries. The Ambassador asked the President to attach more importance on the implementation of the Second phase agreement of the General Agreement on Financial Cooperation.
The Ambassador noted Mongolia and Austria have capacity to broaden bilateral trade and economic relations.
Mentioning the diplomatic mission of the European Union in opening in Ulaanbaatar later this year, the President underlined that this is an important event for Mongolia-Austria ties.
The President of Mongolia, Mr Khaltmaagiin Battulga wished the Ambassadors the best of success in their works.
