PRESIDENT OF MONGOLIA ATTENDS ANNUAL RECITATION OF POEM ‘INDEPENDENCE’
Reciting the poem written by renowned author Dendeviin Purevdorj, Hero of Labor of Mongolia and the People’s Writer (titles), has become an annual tradition with a purpose of awakening patriotism and love for their homeland in children. This year, 3,333 students gathered at Sukhbaatar Square and recited the “Independence” poem with the President of Mongolia, Mr. Khaltmaagiin Battulga in the center.
The President delivered a speech after the read-out. Greeting the crowd, he said “Warm greetings to you. I feel humbled. I am grateful for Oyunii Undraa school, thanks to whom today’s event has become a tradition, for letting me become part of this wonderful occasion. I am proud of you, children.”
The event is set to become nationwide through having children from around all 21 aimags of Mongolia learn the “Independence” poem and organizing the recitation on the national level each year. The head of state pledged his support in making it possible.
The President highlighted he is, too, one of those children who learned the poem in the middle school. “I would like to once again extend my gratitude to the children and teachers who put their heart and soul to this event.
“May the Eternal Heavens protect us, and may our independence stay solid forever,” the President said.
