INDIAN MINISTER OF HOME AFFAIRS PAYS COURTESY CALL ON PRESIDENT
President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga received Minister of Home Affairs of India Rajnath Singh, who is paying an official visit to Mongolia, today in the State Palace.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Rajnath Singh thanked President Battulga for the meeting, and conveyed the greetings of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. The Minister of Home Affairs expressed his delight at the increasing frequency of high-level visits and meetings between the two countries since the 2015 official visit of Mr. Narendra Modi to Mongolia, and his satisfaction at the broadening of bilateral trade and economic cooperation along with these visits.
Mr. Rajnath Singh talked about his participation in the ground-breaking ceremony of the Oil refinery to be built in Altanshiree soum of Dornogobi province, while expressing his hope that the Oil refinery will become one of the foundations of robust development of the Mongolian economy.
President Battulga remarked that the construction of the Oil refinery, financed by USD 1 billion soft loan granted by the Government of India, is a major sign of the deepening cooperation of Mongolia and India, and expressed his interest in boosting bilateral relations in all levels. The President touched upon his meeting with Mr. Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the most recent Meeting of the Council of Heads of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, during which the two leaders discussed opportunities to intensify bilateral ties through cooperation in all areas, including people-to-people exchange, economy and culture. The President exchanged views on bilateral cooperation with Mr. Rajnath Singh.
At the end of the meeting, President Battulga and Minister of Home Affairs Rajnath Singh agreed that there are plenty of opportunities for Mongolia and India to cooperate in spheres such as education, information technology, health and motion picture, while expressing mutual commitment to engaging actively.
Moreover, the Minister of Home Affairs invited President Battulga to pay an official visit to India. President Battulga replied that he will visit India at a convenient time, and sent his cordial greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India.
