PRESIDENT ATTENDS OPENING CEREMONY OF MONGOLIAN TRANSPLANT GAMES
Under the auspices of the President, the 3rd Mongolian Transplant Games commenced today on the Sukhbaatar square. Present at the opening ceremony were, President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga, Minister of Health D.Sarangerel, founder of the World Transplant Games Dr. Maurice Slapak, president of the Mongolian Organ Transplantation Association D.Nyamsuren, organ transplant recipients, and their families.
In his opening remarks, President Battulga stressed that the purpose of the Mongolian Transplant Games was to see the progress in the physical and mental state of the organ transplant recipients, and pay respect to and honor the donors.
The President acknowledged the founders of the Mongolian Transplant Games, including Dr. Maurice Slapak, reputed British surgeon and one of the founders of organ transplant, Olympic champions Naidangiin Tuvshinbayar and Enkhbatyn Badar-Uugan, the Deputy Minister of Health, the organ transplant team, the organ transplant recipients, and their families and relatives.
President Battulga thanked Mr. Maurice Slapak and his Mongolian partners for their dedication, and congratulated the participants of the Games. “I am proud of you for coming to challenge yourselves at the Games after physically and mentally conquering difficult times. I wish success in your competition,” he said.
The Mongolian Transplant Games were previously held in 2008 and 2015. The 3rd Games will engage the athletes in 11 categories.
