The newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Mongolia, Mr. Mohinder Pratap Singh, presented his letter of credence to President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga today.

In this regard, President Battulga received Ambassador Singh and discussed matters of bilateral relations.

At the outset, President Battulga congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and remarked that he will be open and pleased to work with the Ambassador as it involves great efforts on his part to further develop the traditional friendly relations between Mongolia and India.

President Battulga mentioned about the positive implications of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Mongolia in 2015 on all aspects of bilateral relations and expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the ongoing oil refinery project which Mongolia launched with the help of the USD 1 billion soft loan from India that was announced during the visit.

Furthermore, President Battulga requested the Ambassador to pay close attention to the implementation of projects and programs that have been on agenda before, including the establishment of the branch of a reputed Indian technology institute in Mongolia on a soft loan provided by India.

For his part, Ambassador Singh thanked President Battulga for accepting his credentials and meeting him, while assuring the latter of his support towards bilateral projects and programs that are currently active and are in talks for implementation and his commitment to strengthening the advancing relations between our two countries.

The sides exchanged views on a wide range of matters pertaining to bilateral friendly relations and cooperation in the fields of politics, culture, and education.

  • Mongolia and India established diplomatic relations on December 24th, 1955.
  • Mongolia opened its embassy in New Delhi in 1956, and India opened its embassy in Ulaanbaatar in 1971.
