MEETING WITH THE MONGOLIAN TEAM TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 2019 SPECIAL OLYMPICS WORLD SUMMER GAMES
Today, President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga, Human Development and Social Policy Advisor to the President D.Uuriintuya, and Adjunct Advisor in charge of Disabled Community to the President Ts.Chinbat received the members of the Mongolian team to participate in the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games at the State Palace.
The Special Olympics for athletes with intellectual disabilities will take place on 8th-22nd of March in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
B.Altantsetseg, Executive Director of the Mongolian Special Olympic Committee, thanked President Battulga for receiving the athletes and gave brief information about the team and the competition. Team Mongolia is made of 28 athletes and eight coaches and doctors.
Since the establishment of the Mongolian Special Olympic Committee five years ago, Mongolia has been represented at two Special Olympics. At the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games held in Los Angeles, the United States, Mongolian athletes won 4 gold, 4 silver, and 4 bronze medals. At the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games held in Austria, team Mongolia brought home 2 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze medals.
After listening to the briefing, President Battulga said, “I am proud of you who are guiding your peers, giving them hope and promoting positive thinking, and succeeding in sports as young athletes. I would like to wish you luck and congratulate you again.”
President Battulga handed over the Mongolian national flag to be hoisted during the opening ceremony of the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games to team coach B.Altantsetseg and wished them success in their competitions.
