CONSTRUCTION WORKS OF TAVANTOLGOI-ZUUNBAYAN RAILWAY COMMENCE
In accordance with the Government Policy on Railway, construction works for the Tavantolgoi-Zuunbayan railway commenced today in Budran Bag of Mandakh Soum in Dornogobi Province.
The construction works of the 414.6 km long railway along the route Tavantolgoi-Zuunbayan will engage about 3,700 workers and 1,352 machines. During the construction works, about 10 thousand people and their families, including the 3,700 workers, will earn direct and non-direct income through various tasks involving supplies of materials, equipment, water, and food.
The personnel of the Military Unit No. 7781 of the Mongolian Armed Forces will build the railway with salary.
President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga attended the ceremony for commencement of the construction works and delivered opening remarks.
In his remarks, President Battulga underlined the significance of the event saying that it was a major infrastructure development since 1990 and that railway infrastructure holds economic importance to a landlocked country like Mongolia.
The ceremony was also attended by officials, including B.Enkh-Amgalan, Minister of Road and Transport Development, L.Oyun-Erdene, Head of the Cabinet Secretariat, B.Delgersaikhan, Member of Parliament, and Major General A.Ganbat, Chief of the General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces.
