MEETING WITH DASTAN JUMABEKOV, SPEAKER OF THE SUPREME COUNCIL OF THE KYRGYZ REPUBLIC
President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga, who is paying an official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic, met the leadership and members the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz Republic, including Dastan Jumabekov, Speaker, and Kubanychbek Nurmatov, Head of the Kyrgyz-Mongolian Friendship Group in the Supreme Council, today.
Speaker Dastan Jumabekov emphasized the significance the successful visit of President Battulga and the opening of the Embassy of Mongolia in the Kyrgyz Republic represent to bilateral relations. The Speaker spoke about the values of democracy, human rights, and liberty for countries with parliamentary system, while expressing his high esteem of the maturity of democracy and parliamentary system in Mongolia.
President Battulga said that close attention must be paid to mutual visits and exchange of experience, given that cooperation between the law-making bodies of the two countries will play an important role in the advancement of bilateral relations.
During the meeting, the sides mutually expressed that the volume of bilateral trade turnover, which is lower than USD 1 million, is unsatisfactory and exchanged views on ways to increase trade turnover.
In addition to economic relations, the sides discussed a number of specific matters, including about organizing the Fifth World Nomad Games in Mongolia, registering and studying the Mongolian cultural heritages and artifacts that are being kept in Kyrgyz museums and archive, and conducting joint trainings in some sports.
At the end of the meeting, President Battulga thanked the Kyrgyz side for the successful hosting of the SCO Summit and wished success.
