SPEECH BY KHALTMAAGIIN BATTULGA, PRESIDENT AND COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE MONGOLIAN ARMED FORCES, AT THE OPENING OF KHAAN QUEST-2019
Esteemed guests, ladies and gentlemen,
Fellow peacekeepers participating in the Khaan Quest 2019 Multinational Peace Support Operations Exercise,
Our greetings to you and welcome to Mongolia.
Peacekeeping mission still remains as one of the significant means to cease armed conflicts, protect civilians, conduct disaster relief and rescue operations, provide humanitarian assistance, and render rehabilitation activities.
As a peace-prioritizing and full-fledged member of the international community, Mongolia has been sending our Armed Forces to peacekeeping missions since 2002. Concurrently, over 17,000 of our service members have served in international peacekeeping missions.
Peacekeeping is a tough job that requires training, endurance, courage, agility, and military skills. Constant training of the peacekeeping personnel allows the increase of mission execution capability and decrease of possible risks. It also has extensive benefits of strengthening inter-operability and mutual understanding.
Khaan Quest 2019 Exercise is co-organized with the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and the Global Peace Initiative Program. I confident that this annual exercise would be of benefit to the peacekeepers in improving their professional skills, discipline, knowledge, experience, and endurance.
Now I would like to wish a great success to the blue helmets who have come to Mongolia to participate in the 17th iteration of the Khaan Quest Exercise.
May the deeds of peacekeepers always flourish and all the nations be peaceful.”
