PRESIDENT KHURELSUKH LAYS A WREATH AT THE INDEPENDENCE MONUMENT OF TURKMENISTAN AND PLANTS A COMMEMORATIVE TREE
President of Mongolia Ukhnaa Khurelsukh and the accompanying Mongolian delegation paid respects and laid a wreath at the ‘Independence Monument’ in Turkmenistan.
Upon their arrival, the delegation was welcomed by the State Honorary Guard of Turkmenistan.
The ‘Independence Monument’, which stands at 118 meters, was erected in Ashgabat in 2001. In front of the monument stands a gilded statue of Turkmenistan’s first President S.Niyazov.
After laying flowers, President Khurelsukh planted a commemorative tree in the “Alley of Honored Guests” symbolizing the friendship and partnership between the people of Mongolia and Turkmenistan.
During the State Visit, the two Heads of State agreed to coordinate and align the implementation of Mongolia’s ‘Billion Trees’ national movement initiated by President Khurelsukh with Turkmenistan’s “Green Belt” national programme initiated by President S.Berdimuhamedov to contribute to the global efforts in combating climate change, desertification and protecting the environment.
Plant a tree in the “Alley of Honored Guests” is a long-standing tradition for visiting foreign Heads of State and Government in Turkmenistan.
