ORDER OF CHINGGIS KHAAN CONFERRED UPON BAN KI-MOON, THE EIGHTH UN SECRETARY-GENERAL
On the occasion of the 862nd Anniversary of Birth of the Great Emperor Chinggis Khaan and the Day of the Mongol Pride, President of Mongolia Ukhnaa Khurelsukh issued a decree to confer the Order of Chinggis Khaan, State Supreme Decoration of Mongolia, upon Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, the 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Chairman of the “Ban Ki-Moon Foundation for a Better Future”.
The decree reads:
“On the occasion of the 862nd Anniversary of Birth of the Great Emperor Chinggis Khaan and the Day of the Mongol Pride, in appreciation of his leadership in the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals and the ratification of the Paris Agreement under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, for his unwavering commitment to global peace, human rights, justice and equality, the efforts he continues to make in intensifying green development and the weighty contributions for expanding and strengthening cooperation between Mongolia and the United Nations, to confer the State Supreme Decoration of Mongolia, Order of Chinggis Khaan to Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, the 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations Organization and the Chairman of the “Ban Ki-Moon Foundation for Better Future”.
