President of Mongolia Arrives in India for State Visit
President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa arrived in the Republic of India for a State Visit at the invitation of President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi from October 13 to 16, 2025.
Upon arrival at the Indian Air Force’s Palam Airport in New Delhi, President Khurelsukh was welcomed by Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation of India Murlidhar Mohor and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to India Ganbold Dambajav.
The ceremony began with the playing of the National Anthems of the two countries, followed by a report from the Commander of the State Honor Guard. After paying respect to the Guard of Honor, President Khurelsukh greeted the officials from both India and Mongolia who had gathered to attend the ceremony.
This visit marks the historic 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and India.
Within the framework of the visit, President Khurelsukh will hold a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu and official talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss ways to expand and strengthen the “Strategic Partnership” between the two countries, as well as to exchange views on cooperation at the regional and international levels. A Mongolia–India Business Forum will also be held, alongside a cultural performance, photo exhibition, and morin khuur (horsehead fiddle) exhibition under the theme “Beautiful Country of Mongolia.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid an official visit to Mongolia in 2015, elevating bilateral ties to the level of Strategic Partnership. India ranks first in the world by population, fifth by economic size, and seventh by land area. As the cradle of the Indus civilization and several other ancient cultures, the country has historically served as a major hub along ancient trade routes.
Since taking office in 2014, Prime Minister Modi’s government has initiated numerous programs focused on reducing poverty and improving education, greatly contributing to India’s development. The country’s gross domestic product is USD 4.3 trillion, with exports totaling USD 603 billion and imports reaching USD 682 billion.
India primarily exports petroleum products, precious stones, and pharmaceutical goods, while importing crude oil, precious metals such as gold and silver, and electrical equipment. Key sectors of the Indian economy include agriculture, industry, services, finance, and real estate.
Currently, approximately 420 Indian citizens live in Mongolia, while around 1,700 Mongolians live in India. Among them, about 70 Mongolian students and 400 monks and nuns are pursuing studies in India, while four Indian students are studying in Mongolia.
