CEREMONY HELD FOR PRESENTING DECREE ON PROCLAIMING “DAY OF MOTHER LANGUAGE”
President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga has issued his first decree for public and named September 1st the Day of Mother Language.
Ceremony for presenting the Presidential Decree which was issued on August 25 was held in the Citizens’ Chamber of the President of Mongolia on August 30, Wednesday.
Present at the ceremony were, Chief of Staff of the Office of the President Z.Enkhbold and Cultural and Religious Policy Advisor Ts.Khulan.
At the beginning of the ceremony, D.Munkhbadral, an assistant of the President, read out the Decree on Proclaiming the Day of Mother Language.
According to the Decree, the President, “while cherishing folk art, traditions, cultural heritages, statehood customs and great history, which are the assurances of national security, and in order to maintain legitimate recordkeeping of state official documents, improve the public’s knowledge about mother language, history and culture, and start the campaign to envoke every citizen’s ability to speak and write in proper Mongolian”, orders to:
1. proclaim the Day of Mother Language to be observed on September 1 of each year;
2. mark the Day of Mother Language on the national level, within all government and non-government organizations, companies and all stages of educational institutions;
3. implement the following measures, including pursuance of proper standards of written and spoken Mongolian language in recordkeeping of official documentations and appealing the press and media to collaborate through broadcasting TV programs and releasing news and articles that encourage people for proper use of our mother tongue in their everyday life, in the margin of marking the Day of Mother Language;
4. task the centralized government administration in charge of educational affairs to dedicate the first academic hour to celebrating the Day of Mother Language by making this academic hour a compulsory hour for receivers of education in all educational institutions, including universities, institutes, vocational training centers, general educations school and kindergartens to learn about Mongolian language, literature, culture and history.
Copies of the Presidential Decree No. 25 was presented to Vice Minister for Education, Culture, Science and Sports Yo.Otgonbayar, Deputy Mayor Sh.Ankhmaa, Head of the Municipal Division of Social Development O.Erdenejargal, Director of Institute of Language and Literature G.Bilguudei, President of the Confederation of Mongolian Journalists B.Galaarid, Deputy Director of the Mongolian National Broadcaster G.Gerel, Director of TV9 Channel T.Baasansuren, Deputy Dean of the National University of Mongolia B.Ochirkhuyag, Director of School of Social and Humanitarian Studies of the Mongolian State University of Education J.Batbaatar, Dean of the University of Language and Civilization L.Soyombo, Director of the College of Industry and Arts B.Davaajav, Director of “Shine Mongol” complete secondary school J.Galbadrakh, Director of the 23rd School of Ulaanbaatar R.Ganbold and Manager of the 32nd Kindergarten of Bayanzurkh District of Ulaanbaatar.
