ORDER OF LABOR MERIT CONFERRED TO “ORGOO” MATERNITY HOSPITAL
In accordance with Decree No. 77 issued by President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga, “Orgoo” Maternity Hospital of Ulaanbaatar, also known as the First Maternity Hospital, was awarded the Red Banner Order of Labor Merit on June 1st, the International Day for Protection of Children.
President Battulga solemnly presented the order in the State Palace.
Addressing the staff of maternity hospital, the President said “On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the maternity hospital, the order is being presented in high recognition of dedication and contribution of generations of staff, physicians, pediatricians, nurses and caretakers of “Orgoo” Maternity Hospital to protection of health of the mothers and infants, upgrading the quality of highly-professional medical services and successful delivery of thousands of children of Mongolia.” The President wished the hospital staff a success.
Established on April 28th of 1928, “Orgoo” Maternity Hospital of Ulaanbaatar is the first-ever specialized medical center for mothers and infants of Mongolia. “Orgoo” Maternity Hospital operates with 100-bed ambulatory for reproductive healthcare for women, 240-bed child-delivery department and 390-bed infant healthcare department, employing, in total, more than 480 people.
The maternity hospital delivered the one millionth citizen of Mongolia in 1990s and the two millionth in 1997. One eighth of the country’s population and one in every three residents of Ulaanbaatar were delivered in the first maternity hospital. In the course of 90 years of operation, the hospital assisted over 375 thousand mothers on their way to safe delivery.
