PRESIDENT EXPRESSES SUPPORT TOWARDS MIND SPORTS
Today, President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga received and congratulated children who successfully participated in the 23rd UCMAS International Competition held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The competition challenged more than 3,000 children from 40 countries, and 53 Mongolian children participated. Team Mongolia won a total of 47 awards, including a Grand Champion, 16 Champions, 20 Gold Cups, and 10 Silver Cups.
During the meeting, President Battulga congratulated the young athletes, their coaches, and parents for the milestone achievement in mind sport. The President said, “I am pleased with the success of our young athletes who have been participating in international competitions since 2012. I am sure that your achievements will advance forward. At this time when there is much negativity in the society, your achievement is a bright spot.
Mongolian children recently have been demonstrating excellence in not only mind sports, but also science Olympiads. Furthermore, top information technology companies are increasingly interested in hiring talented young Mongolians, which is good news.
Not only does this signify the intellectual skills of Mongolians, it also shows that we have so much potential in mind sports. As President, I will support the development of mind sports, especially among youths.”
President Battulga acknowledged that a considerable amount of money is needed for participating in international competitions, while expressing his readiness to support athletes when they compete abroad. At the end of the meeting, the President posed for a group photo with the children.
