President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa issued a decree to award the “Friendship” Medal of Mongolia to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Commonwealth of Australia to Mongolia Katie Smith, in recognition of her contribution to the development of Mongolia-Australia relations and cooperation.

The Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of Mongolia, Mr. Odbayar Erdenetsogt, presented the award during a meeting with Ambassador Katie Smith as she prepares to conclude her tenure in Mongolia. Foreign Policy Advisor Odbayar expressed deep appreciation for Ambassador Katie Smith’s efforts in fostering bilateral relations, diplomatic exchanges, and expanding cooperation, which have grown significantly in recent years.

At the meeting, the two sides highlighted President of the Australian Senate Sue Lines’ role in deepening mutual trust and understanding, strengthening cooperation between the highest legislative bodies of the two countries, and advancing mutually beneficial collaboration. Ambassador Katie Smith expressed her sincere gratitude to the State, Government, and people of Mongolia for their support and partnership throughout her tenure. The Ambassador affirmed her commitment to exerting all efforts towards further expanding and developing Mongolia-Australia relations.
