{"id":6000,"slug":"declaration-on-the-strategic-partnership-between-mongolia-and-the-united-states-of-america","status":"publish","tags":[],"title":{"rendered":"DECLARATION ON THE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN MONGOLIA AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The text of the following statement was released by the Governments of Mongolia and the United States of America on the occasion of the visit of His Excellency Khaltmaagiin Battulga, President of Mongolia, to the United States of America, and the meeting between President Battulga and Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RECOGNIZING that the\nbasic principles set forth in the 2007 Declaration of Principles for Closer\nCooperation, and supported by the 2004, 2005, 2011, and 2018 Mongolia-United\nStates Joint Statements, have provided a firm foundation for the development of\nthe bilateral relationship;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ACKNOWLEDGING that relations between Mongolia and the United States of America have grown stronger and closer based on common strategic interests, shared democratic values, good governance, principles of sovereignty, and respect for human rights;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RECOGNIZING\nthe Joint Statement and the Roadmap for Expanded Economic Partnership between\nMongolia and the United States of America signed in Washington D.C. on\nSeptember 20<sup>th<\/sup>, 2018;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DESIRING&nbsp;to increase\neconomic opportunities, create new jobs, and reduce poverty through economic\ngrowth, investment, and free, fair, and reciprocal trade;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ACKNOWLEDGING that Mongolia and the United States of America have a mutual interest in cooperating more closely to ensure peace, security, and stability in the region;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GUIDED by the joint\nintent to continue expanding and developing relations across all areas of\ncooperation, including political, economic, cultural, educational,\nhumanitarian, and people to people ties in order to meet evolving challenges\nand to maximize new opportunities;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AFFIRMING that Mongolia and the United States of America share the principle of respect for national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The governments of Mongolia and the United States of America hereby declare their relationship to be a Strategic Partnership, and further note their shared desire to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Intensify cooperation as\nstrong democracies based on the rule of law through safeguarding and promoting\ndemocratic values and human rights, including the freedoms of religion or\nbelief, expression, including internet and media freedom, assembly, and\nassociation; anti-corruption and fiscal transparency; and youth and emerging\nleader development;<\/li><li>Cooperate in promoting\nnational security and stability across the Indo-Pacific region so that all\nnations,&nbsp;secure in their sovereignty, are able pursue economic growth\nconsistent with international law and principles of fair competition;<\/li><li>Deepen national security\nand law-enforcement ties through collaboration on bilateral and multilateral\nsecurity, judicial, and law-enforcement efforts in&nbsp;the region and to\nstrengthen cooperation in multilateral engagements such as peacekeeping,\nhumanitarian assistance, and disaster preparedness and relief operations;<\/li><li>Expand trade and\ninvestment relations on a fair and reciprocal basis, support private sector-led\ngrowth, fully implement the U.S.-Mongolia Transparency Agreement, promote\nwomen\u2019s entrepreneurship, and&nbsp;continue to explore support for\ninfrastructure under the new Development Finance Corporation with the new tools\nprovided under the BUILD Act;<\/li><li>Strengthen border\nsecurity, prevent illegal transshipment and trafficking, expand cooperation on\ncivil aviation safety and oversight, and efficiently facilitate legitimate\ntravel between Mongolia and the United States;<\/li><li>Increase cooperation in\naddressing transnational threats such as terrorism, human trafficking, drug\ntrafficking, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, cyberattacks,\ntransnational organized crime, pandemics, and other emerging non-traditional\nsecurity threats;<\/li><li>Continue to develop an\nenvironment in which civil society, social media, and a free and independent\nmedia can flourish;<\/li><li>Maintain high-level\nofficial dialogues, encourage bilateral exchanges at all levels of government,\nand further develop people-to-people exchanges to deepen engagement on issues\nof mutual interest and concern.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:right\">Washington D.C., July 31, 2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"date":"2019-08-01T20:54:57","excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The text of the following statement was released by the Governments of Mongolia and the United States of America on the occasion of the visit of His Excellency Khaltmaagiin Battulga, President of Mongolia, to the United States of America, and the meeting between President Battulga and Donald J.
