President of\nMongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga forwarded an official letter to Chairman of the\nState Great Khural Gombojavyn Zandanshatar today, notifying the latter on his\npartial veto on the Law on State Budget for 2020 and the accompanying\nlegislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In\nthe official letter, President Battulga says, \u201cI have reviewed the Law on State\nBudget for 2020 and the accompanying legislation that were adopted by the\nParliament on November 13, 2019, and forwarded to the Office of the President\non November 25, 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite my repeated demands to adopt an\nefficient budget that reflects retrenchment and prioritizes the national\ninterests while reminding the Parliament, during its discussion on the budget\nof last year, of the importance of the State Budget as a visionary unified policy\nthat must not be based on insignificant short-term interests and must take into\naccount the achievements, outcome, and risks of the future, and a key policy\nthat must be adopted within the framework of a complex objective that aims to ensure\nthe economic independence and sovereignty of our country, there has not been\nmuch progress. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2026As such, I deemed it right to put a partial\nveto on the Law on State Budget for 2020 and the accompanying legislation to provide\nthe Mongolian People\u2019s Party and the parliamentarians elected from the party\nwith an opportunity to reflect on their responsibilities, reconsider the\npromises they made to the constituents and the policies and solutions they opted\nfor, and amend some of their erring policies with the 2020 budget.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"date":"2019-12-03T19:04:15","excerpt":{"rendered":"
