On March 22nd<\/sup>, 2021, the day that marks the 40th<\/sup> anniversary of Mongolia\u2019s first space flight, President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga awarded astronaut J.Gurragchaa the Order of Chinggis Khaan. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Order of Chinggis Khaan was awarded in recognition of\nJ.Gurragchaa\u2019s invaluable contribution to marking Mongolia as one of the\npatrons of space studies, as he paved the way for Mongolian space researchers\nto make their unique contributions to the field by becoming the 101st<\/sup>\ncitizen of the earth and 2nd<\/sup> Asian to take part in space flight,\nmaking Mongolia the 10th<\/sup> country to send an astronaut to the open\nspace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Major-General Gurragchaa Jugderdemid has been pronounced a\nHero of Mongolia and the former Soviet Union. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon the conferral of the Order, the President said:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDear citizens of Mongolia, and <\/p>\n\n\n\n

the fellow Mongols scattered through the face of the earth, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I would like to congratulate you on the 40th<\/sup>\nanniversary of Mongolia\u2019s first space flight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For millenniums, the eternal sky and the mother earth,\nplaced in the heart of the universe, have remained the center of Mongolians\u2019\nspiritual sanctity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A man flew into the space 60 years ago, as a result of the\nwondrous scientific discoveries led by the desires of humanity to explore the\nuniverse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forty years ago today, at 22:40 Ulaanbaatar time, Soyuz-39\nspace vehicle, carrying an international crew of Mongolian citizen Jugderdemidiin\nGurragchaa and the Soviet citizen Vladimir Aleksandrovich Janibekov, and landed\nback to Earth at 19:42, March 30th<\/sup>, 1981. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Out of all 194 UN members, 36 countries have sent their\ncitizens into the space. Mongolia is the 10th<\/sup> country to send a man\ninto the space, making J.Gurragchaa the 2nd<\/sup> Asian citizen to attend\na space flight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The joint space mission carried out 36 medical, biological,\nphysical technological and remote sensing experiments, falling under 25 categories\nof 3 fields, which ultimately became the foundation of Mongolian space\nresearch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hero of the People\u2019s Republic of Mongolia and the Soviet\nUnion, cosmonaut, Major-General J.Gurragchaa is a luminary, not only for\nMongolians, but for the whole human race. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I avail myself to confer upon You the highest state decoration,\nthe Order of CHINGGIS KHAAN, in high recognition of your substantial contribution\nto the proclamation of Mongolia\u2019s prestige, revival of patriotism and national\npride, on the occasion of the 40th<\/sup> anniversary of the first space\nflight of Mongolia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
