At the invitation of President of Mongolia Ukhnaa Khurelsukh, President of the Swiss Confederation Viola Amherd is paying a State Visit to Mongolia on August 2-4, 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

During the State Visit, the two Heads of State signed a Joint Declaration between Mongolia and the Swiss Confederation.<\/span><\/p>\n

1. \u201cJ<\/span>oint Declaration between Mongolia and the Swiss Confederatio<\/span>n\u201d<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The two sides consolidated the achievements and successes of the past 60 years of cooperation and defined the future directions in a Joint Declaration between Mongolia and the Swiss Confederation. The motto of the historic 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations,<\/span>\u00a0“<\/span>Mongolia and Switzerland for Peace,<\/span>”\u00a0<\/span>defines the foreign relations goals of the two countries. The two sides agreed to organize high and the highest-level reciprocal visits and consultative meetings, strengthen political mutual understanding and cooperation between legislative bodies, cooperate within the framework of international and regional stability initiatives, jointly mitigate climate change and desertification, and expand\u00a0<\/span>cooperation<\/span>\u00a0aligned with the goals of the two\u00a0<\/span>countries’<\/span>\u00a0long-term development policies. Also,\u00a0<\/span>Mongolia-Switzerland\u00a0<\/span>cooperation<\/span>\u00a0in agriculture, health, emergency, education, sports, and culture will be further enriched<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u201cM<\/b><\/span>emorandum of Understanding on Democracy between Mongolia and Switzerland,<\/b><\/span>\u201d<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>signed by Foreign Minister of Mongolia Battsetseg Batmunkh and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Mongolia Juerg Burri<\/span><\/p>\n

In a Memorandum of Understanding, the two sides defined the scope of cooperation for\u00a0<\/span>the implementation of<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>special<\/span>\u00a0projects and programs in strengthening governance based on democratic values, such as human rights, freedom, and the rule of law, and protecting human rights. Currently,\u00a0<\/span>projects,<\/span>\u00a0such as<\/span>\u00a0“<\/span>Strengthening Parliamentary Institution<\/span>”\u00a0<\/span>and<\/span>\u00a0“<\/span>Safeguarding Democracy and Human Rights through Legal Reform of the Constitutional Court,<\/span>”\u00a0<\/span>are being implemented in Mongolia.<\/span><\/p>\n
