President of Mongolia Ukhnaa Khurelsukh addressed the UN Summit of the Future on September 22, 2024. We present the full text of the address of the President.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“Mr. General-Secretary,<\/p>\n

Distinguished delegates,<\/p>\n

Ladies and gentlemen,<\/p>\n

This Summit of the Future is an important event focused on outlining pathways toward a peaceful, sustainable, inclusive, resilient, and prosperous future, as highlighted in UN Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres’s report, \u201cOur Common Agenda\u201d.<\/p>\n

I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Permanent Representatives of Namibia and Germany for their successful coordination of the preparations for this Summit.<\/p>\n

I also would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to UN Secretary-General Mr. Ant\u00f3nio Guterres for initiating this Summit of the Future, which aims to assess the current state of the implementation of the \u201c2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development\u201d, provide new momentum for its advancement, and enhance its activities.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The documents \u201cPact for the Future\u201d, \u201cDeclaration on Future Generations\u201d, and \u201cGlobal Digital Compact\u201d, which we have just adopted based on numerous discussions and consultations, represent a significant step in reaffirming our shared goals and political aspirations during these complex times.<\/p>\n

As a country that adheres to a \u201cpeaceful, open, independent, and multi-pillar\u201d foreign policy, Mongolia respects the pluralism that arises from the history, culture, civilization, national interests, and development paths of all countries and is committed to building international relations based on a multi-pillar approach.<\/p>\n

Our country also believes that strengthening multilateral cooperation based on international law and the UN Charter is a key way to ensure international peace and security, with enhanced dialogue, mutual understanding, and trust serving as the foundation for global stability and peaceful coexistence.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

We are confident that this Summit of the Future will play a crucial role in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, including peacebuilding, combating climate change, protecting global health, reducing economic inequalities, ensuring justice, and promoting science, technology, innovation, youth engagement, and governance reform.<\/p>\n

In preparation for this Summit, our country collaborated with the UN to organize various events, notably successfully hosting the World Women\u2019s Forum in August under the theme \u201cToward a Greener Future\u201d, which culminated in the adoption of the \u201cUlaanbaatar Declaration: Towards a Sustainable Future\u201d.<\/p>\n

We are pleased that the core ideas from this declaration are reflected in the documents that we have adopted at today\u2019s Summit.<\/p>\n

Moving forward, we will continue to support and promote the UN\u2019s central role in global affairs and enhance multilateral cooperation centered around the UN in all aspects.<\/p>\n

We wish success for the activities of the Summit. Thank you for your attention!”<\/p>\n
