AMBASSADOR OF CZECH REPUBLIC PRESENTS LETTER OF CREDENCE

President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga accepted letter of credence from the newly accredited Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Mongolia Jiri Brodsky on September 22.

The latter said Mongolia and the Czech Republic have long-standing friendship, one of the indications of which is the fact that 50 thousand Mongolians can speak in Czech language and many Mongolian nationals work and study in the Czech Republic.

As the head of diplomatic mission, he emphasized the importance of broadening cooperation, specifically, the economic and commercial relations in a mutually beneficial manner.

Expressing his agreement, President Battulga said, “The bilateral trade turnover is relatively low. Mongolia is located next to East Asia, which makes up for 30 percent of the world economy. Asia accommodates half of the world population. Therefore Mongolia can act as a passage for Czech businesses to East Asia.”

“Mongolia boasts great wealth not only under the ground but also on the ground. It is possible for Mongolia to produce final agricultural products given its riches of about 70 million livestock. We can also share interest with the Czech Republic in fields of tourism and winter games, especially in hockey, which the Czech Republic is famous for in the world,” suggested the President.

Mr. Jiri Brodsky said he agrees with the President and introduced some projects that are expected to be implemented in the near future.

First of all, an agreement is expected to be set up for cooperation in social welfare. The Ambassador informed that the Czech side is seeking possibilities to allow benefits for Mongolian nationals who have worked and received education in the Czech Republic, and that the issue of alleviating visa acquiring requirements is also on the table.

Ambassador Brodsky shared that he came across a Czech company that is interested in investing in Mongolia just before he was appointed to Mongolia. “It is possible for the Czech side to collaborate with Mongolia in energy, agriculture, environment and sports areas and share its practices in ice hockey with Mongolian hockey team. In order to mobilize these, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ulaanbaatar is ready for active cooperation,” he noted.
