Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan Visit General Education School in Ulaanbaatar

Their Majesties Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan visited General Education School N149 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, today.

Within the framework of Japan’s Official Development Assistance Grant Aid, the Project for the Improvement of Primary and Secondary Education Facilities in Ulaanbaatar city in Mongolia was implemented from 2017 to 2021. Under this project, four school buildings were newly constructed or expanded in the capital.

As part of the initiative, two new schools – School No. 149 in Chingeltei District and School No. 75 in Khan-Uul District – were built, while School No. 109 in Nalaikh District and School No. 53 in Bayanzurkh District were expanded.

Secondary School No. 149 has a total capacity of 720 students and is equipped with 18 classrooms. The school was designed to be accessible for people with disabilities and is built to withstand earthquakes of up to magnitude 8, allowing it to serve as an emergency shelter if needed.
