At today’s plenary meeting of the State Great Khural, President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga delivered the introduction to Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh upon discussion of the latter’s appointment as the Prime Minister of Mongolia.
The President read out the introduction, “Dear Speaker of Parliament and members of the State Great Khural,
Due to the dismissal of the cabinet formed as a result of the parliamentary elections of 2016, the Mongolian People’s Party which took majority of seats in the parliament nominated Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh as the next Prime Minister of Mongolia.
Exercising the full powers bestowed upon me as provided in the Section 1.2 of Article 33 of the Constitution of Mongolia, I hereby submit to the State Great Khural the proposal on appointing Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh the Prime Minister of Mongolia.
U.Khurelsukh was born in 1968 in Sukhbaatar District of Ulaanbaatar. He graduated from the University of Defense, Institute of State Administration and Management Development, School of Law of the National University of Mongolia, majoring in political analysis and law. Khurelsukh lives with his wife and two children.
U.Khurelsukh started his career from the 152nd Unit of the People’s Army of Mongolia, worked as a member of parliament in 2000-2008, member of cabinet and Minister in charge of emergency in 2004-2006, member of cabinet and Minister in charge of specialized inspection in 2006-2008, elected a member of parliament in 2012, worked as member of cabinet and Deputy Prime Minister in 2015-2016 and has been working as member of cabinet and Deputy PM since 2016.
I am confident in his capacity to work as the Prime Minister of Mongolia while cherishing rule of law, ensuring social control and maintaining prompt and decisive cooperation in order to take tangible actions for overcoming a large number of pressing issues facing the country.
I would like to ask You to cast Your votes on the matter of appointing Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh the Prime Minister of Mongolia.
