PRESIDENT OF MONGOLIA KH.BATTULGA ATTENDS OPENING OF NEW LIBRARY OF NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF MONGOLIA
On October 5, President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga attended the opening of the new library of the National University of Mongolia (NUM), gave a speech and made a digital book order.
He said in the opening speech, “Today is a beautiful day. I am exceptionally happy. I was thinking of opening a nice new library myself when I became President. Therefore, I am more than delighted for the opening of this beautiful library on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of NUM.
I extend my congratulations to generations of wise professors and educators on the occasion of opening of the new library and the 75th anniversary of the University. I am extremely proud to hear that interior design, civil engineering, furnishing and all other works have been completed by national companies. Congratulations, once again!
We have been taught that “Book is the window to the world” since childhood. The teaching has been around for many years and I hope it will remain the same in the future.
In 1942, during the difficult times of war, the NUM Library first opened with a little more than a hundred books. It is impossible to not be proud of NUM for it is opening a new library with over 400 thousand books and settings that satisfy the international standards.
Following your example, I wish all branches of NUM in localities would have similar standard libraries.
Obviously, you have a lot more to do in the library management area. Some of the branches will be operating for 24 hours, I was informed. I trust that the library will be open to public in the future. I would like to express congratulations once more. Thank you.”
The NUM Library has a treasury of about 400 thousand electronic and printed books and consists of 15 branches that facilitate access to international online data bases.
After the opening ceremony, President Battulga attended the opening of a new NUM monument and was given a brief tour around reading chambers, museum, digital book ordering chamber and NUM Brand Store. The President left dedication note in the guest book, which was first opened in 1957 and generations of Presidents of other countries, national and international guests also left dedications in.
