PRESIDENT MEETS NATIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM MEMBERS

President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga received trainers and athletes of the Mongolian basketball team on October 13.

Present at the meeting were, President of the National Basketball Federation of Mongolia (NBFM) S.Erdene, President of the Mongolian Basketball Association (MBA) and State Honored trainer Ts.Tseverbal, NBFM Secretary-General and coach S.Tulga, MBA Secretary B.Damba and members of 3×3 World Cup’s valuable team “Ulaanbaatar Khangarid” and the national league, the winner of the 3×3 World University Cup.

The President welcomed the basketball players today to congratulate them on their explosive achievements and encourage them for the future accomplishments in the 3×3 category which is being included in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as an official Olympic category.

Mongolian basketball players have made dramatic accomplishments in the past 4-5 years and are now raking in the 5th place in Asia and 35th place in the world, moving forward by 150 places in the world ranking.

Mongolia is delighted to have accepted the honorable duty to host the FIBA 3×3 Asian Cup which is expected in Ulaanbaatar on October 27-29. The competition will grant rights to participate in the 2020 Olympic Games. In addition to the 2014 World Champion of 3×3 –team of Qatar, teams from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, Kazakhstan Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Chinese Taipei, Malaysia, Lebanon, Bahrain and Mongolia are taking parts in this competition.

During the meeting with the President, the coaches and basketball players invited the head of state to watch the competition.

President Battulga and the guests had a family photo taken in the Nine White Banners chamber of the State Palace after the meeting.
