PRESIDENT OF MONGOLIA VISITS ZANABAZAR MUSEUM FOR SUGIYAMA TERUZO’S PHOTO-EXHIBITION
President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga visited the photographic exhibition named “Mongolian Cultural Heritages Around the World and the City of Ulaanbaatar /1983-2016/” by Japanese photographer Sugiyama Teruzo. The exhibition opened on October 13 in the Fine Arts Zanabazar Museum of Ulaanbaatar.
The President was given a tour by Sugiyama Teruzo through the photographic pieces that showcase the history.
The photo-exhibition is being organized in frames of the celebration of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Mongolia and Japan. Photographer Sugiyama Teruzo had four editions of photographic books about Mongolian art published with assistance of the Mongolian National Committee under UNESCO in 1987.
Also, the photographer investigated valuable heritages in connection with Mongolian history and culture preserved in Russia, Germany and Denmark and photo-archived them in 1999 thanks to the support of Mongolian Center for International Cooperation.
He also released photographic albums about religions in Mongolia in 1987, Mongolian fine art in 1988, Mongolian monasteries and architecture (Mongolian cast Gods) and collection of Mongolian history and fine art in 1990, Mongolian nomads in 1992, Heritage finds created by unnamed artists and Chinggis Khaan’s “steppe memoirs” in 1996, and Mongolian religious fine art in 1998.
The title of Outstanding Figure of Culture has been conferred upon Sugiyama Teruzo by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports. Certificate of the title was presented at the event.
