PRESIDENT BATTULGA ADDRESSES SECOND NATIONAL FORUM OF CULTURAL WORKERS

The II National Forum of Workers in Arts and Culture is taking place in Great Hall of the State Palace. President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga sent a message addressing the forum participants. The message was delivered by Ms Ts.Khulan, Cultural and Religious Policy Advisor to the President.

The message reads, “Ladies and Gentlemen,

Distinguished guests,

History of Mongolia is history of the world, and history of Mongolian culture is history of humanity’s culture. There is no such place in the world as Mongolia, human race left footprints so vivid that they established the unique culture, civilization and statehood of nomads.

In the course of the highs and lows of history, we – the people of Mongolia have been safeguarding the historic and cultural heritages like the apples of our eyes and brought safely to the 21st century.

The Constitution of Mongolia proclaims, “We, the people of Mongolia are aspiring toward the supreme objective of developing a humane, civil, democratic society in the country, while strengthening the independence and sovereignty of the nation, cherishing human rights and freedoms, justice and national unity, inheriting the traditions of national statehood, history and culture, and respecting the accomplishments of human civilization.”

I, upon assuming office as the head of state, pledged in my agenda to be a President who will strongly defend Mongolia’s independence and sovereignty, national interest, territorial integrity and defense, democracy, freedom, human rights, and justice of Mongolia, and will create “Powerful Mongolia”.

The national academic theatres, concert palaces of aimags, cultural centers of soums, fine art galleries, museums and libraries have been keeping the sacred fire burning in the heart of arts and culture of Mongolia. We are all aware of the fact that the Government has been enforcing sector-specific policies and planning budgets in order to keep the audience halls full of viewers and the reading rooms full of readers and guests.

However, art and culture are more than just an economic sector, but they are the very life of nation.”

The President concluded the message by wishing success to the forum, and appealed safeguard our national history, culture, traditions and heritages.
