PRESIDENT ALLOWS CITIZENS TO NOMINATE CANDIDATES FOR IAAC LEADERS
On April 24th, Chief of Staff of the Office of the President Z.Enkhbold held a press briefing to inform the public that President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga invites citizens to nominate candidates for positions of Commissioner-General and Deputy Commissioner of the Independent Authority Against Corruption (IAAC).
“Mongolian President has the right to nominate Commissioner of IAAC under the 21.1 of the Anti-Corruption Law,” explained Mr. Z.Enkhbold.
“The President notified that he will nominate the heads of IAAC during the spring session of the State Great Khural. The President is going to exercise his right together with the people,” he added.
The candidates have to meet the requirements provided in the 21.2.1 of the Anit-Corruption Law: a candidate is required to have served in public service for more than 15 years, to be over 45 years of age and a lawyer by profession, and to possess executive and investigative knowledge and skills. A candidate must not have held a political position for the 10 years prior to the nomination.
The public nominations and polls are to continue for one week between April 24th and May 1st of 2018. The one candidate who earned most votes in each of the polls for nominations for Commissioner-General and Deputy Commissioner will be presented by the President to the State Great Khural.
