TOMORROW TO MARK TREE-PLANTING DAY
A Presidential Decree on Pronouncing the National Tree Planting Day was issued on April 14th of 2010. The decree provides that “first Saturdays of every May and October shall be marked as the National Tree Planting Day”. The designated day is falling on May 12th this year.
Since the issuance of decree, 16 National Tree Planting Days were celebrated throughout the nation between 2010 and 2017, involving one million and 270 thousand people and 68.9 thousand organizations who planted 10.5 million trees. Survival rate of the planted trees reached 75 percent, meaning 7.8 million trees are still growing.
The Office of the President of Mongolia is calling the citizens, families, government and non-government organizations, companies and donors for planting and looking after trees, bushes and flowers, and leading others to take up environmentally-friendly lifestyle.
