PRESIDENT MEETS FORESTRY SPECIALISTS WORKING AT BOGD KHAAN MOUNTAIN
President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga today met forestry specialists working on forest plantation at the Tur Khurakh gorge of the Bogd Khaan Mountain.
According to the specialists and representatives of Nogoon Khishigten NGO and Great Green Partners LLC, which are in charge of the tree nursery, the Tur Khurakh gorge is geographically considered to be a central region of Asia, and the decrease of forest in the area is not just an issue of Mongolia, but of Asia; therefore forestation is necessary.
The ‘Great Green Partners’ LLC is capable of producing about 300 thousand seedlings ready for plantation annually. Biological rehabilitation consultant of the company reported to the President that the company uses a PPRS technology that increases a tree’s root mass, creating strong root systems.
With its experience of successfully planting 2,800 seedlings on a 18 ha area surrounding the Khamar Monastery in Dornogobi province, the company is working towards further expanding the forest area of the Tur Khurakh gorge.
President Battulga expressed his support to tree growing activities in the area and wished the foresters success, while highlighting the importance of post-planting care.
