NAADAM GREETINGS OF PETER COSGROVE, GOVERNOR-GENERAL OF AUSTRALIA
On the occasion of Naadam festivity, Governor-General of Australia Peter Cosgrove has sent a letter to President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga.
“Your Excellency
On the occasion of the National Day of Mongolia, I wish to convey to you, the Government and people of Mongolia my warmest wishes, together with those of the Australian Government and people.
Australia and Mongolia have warm and productive relations based on shared values and common interests. I am pleased that our long-standing relationship continues to grow thanks to broadening areas of cooperation.
In addition to the important people to people links developed through the Australia Awards scholarships program and sharing Australian expertise in extractives sector governance, Australia and Mongolia have been working closely to address common risks from natural disasters. The work we are doing to assist Mongolia host the Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in July 2018 builds on a long term commitment that includes 10 Australian Volunteers being placed with the National Emergency Management Authority since 2012. We were also pleased to help Mongolia respond to the wildfires that caused extensive damage in July 2017.
May I express my confidence that the friendly relations between our two countries will continue to prosper in the coming year.
Yours sincerely
Peter Cosgrove”
