PRESIDENT GIVES REMARKS AT THE INTERNATIONAL JOINT SYMPOSIUM ON CANCER MANAGEMENT
Under the auspices of the President of Mongolia, the National Cancer Center, the Mongolian Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Society, and the Japanese Nakayama Cancer Research Institute are co-organizing the 10th international joint symposium themed The Modern Approach for Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Cancer Management on August 23th-25th in Ulaanbaatar. President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga gave remarks at the opening ceremony at the plenary session today.
In his remarks, President Battulga congratulated the organizers of the symposium on the 10th anniversary and said, “A decade is long enough to accomplish much. The first joint symposium was held in 2008, and the National Cancer Center can now perform various types of surgeries on its own. The fact that the doctors and surgeons of the National Cancer Center performed the living donor liver transplant surgery for the first time on January 28th, 2018, and that they have performed the surgery five more times since then is the outcome of this symposium. Mongolians are grateful for and proud of the solid output of the training activities during the symposium.”
The symposium is being attended by doctors and surgeons from Japan, the Republic of Korea, Kazakhstan, India, and Taiwan, and President Battulga acknowledged their invaluable contribution to the healthcare sector in Mongolia through exchange of experience and joint surgeries with Mongolian doctors.
President Battulga also remarked, “One important role of the Government is to safeguard public health and ensure healthy living conditions. As such, more attention should be paid toward this symposium as it is important to raise public awareness on the diagnostics, treatment, and management of cancer, the incidence of which is increasing. Let me thank the organizers of the annual symposium again on behalf of Mongolians.”
