THE FIRST PRESIDENTIAL PRIZE FOR OUTSTANDING YOUNG WORKER PRESENTED TO A WELDER
Today, President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga issued a decree on Awarding an Outstanding Young Worker and presented the Presidential Prize to welder Uujimsetgel Erdene, student of the Mongolian-Korean Polytechnical College, who is making an admirable contribution to the sphere of labor with her outstanding professionalism, talent, and productivity and her encouragement of the younger generation towards hard work and creative production.
After the presentation, President Battulga gave remarks:
“Good day to everyone,
I presented the first Presidential Prize for Outstanding Young Worker today, and it is a very important award. When I, as President, held town hall meetings with the residents of nine districts of the capital city and 21 provinces of Mongolia, a number of people said that “the young people lack interest in labor despite of the existing job opportunities.”
A survey conducted by the National Statistics Office indicates that there were around 25 thousand registered unemployed people in early 2018. Majority of them are people of age 25-34. However, there are 35 thousand job openings announced by the Labor Exchange. It exceeds the number of the registered unemployed by 10 thousand.
The biggest challenge we face is lack of professionalism and aptitude for labor. Employers often talk about shortage of professional workers. It is time we reformed the education system which fails to evaluate the policy and planning in regard to demand and supply in the labor market, thus expanding the rank of unemployed people every year. As such, the policy support towards vocational education and manufacturing has proven efficient. Between those who acquired vocational education in an on-demand field and those who graduated a college in the most common program, the ratio for employment probability has become 99 to 1.” President Battulga encouraged young people to excel in their work and accomplish great things just like the 18-year-old Uujimsetgel.
