MEETING WITH JOHN R.BOLTON, NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR OF THE UNITED STATES

The United States National Security Advisor, Ambassador John R. Bolton, who is paying a visit to Mongolia, paid a courtesy call on President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga today.

At the beginning of the meeting, President Battulga said that Mr. Bolton’s visit to Mongolia was an indication of the importance attached to bilateral ties and underlined the significant role of the Compact Agreement established with the Millennium Challenge Corporation in Mongolia-U.S. relations.

Mr. Bolton remarked that his visit was a great opportunity to have discussions on ways to expand bilateral economic and military cooperation and develop ties in other sectors as well.

President Battulga addressed the Mongolia Third Neighbor Trade Act legislative bill, which was reintroduced in the U.S. Congress, emphasizing that not only would it increase employment in the cashmere and textile industry, it would also help strengthen the economic security of Mongolia, and requested Mr. Bolton to pay close attention to the bill.

Mr. Bolton expressed his appreciation of the active development of military cooperation between the two countries, saying that the contribution of the Mongolian Armed Forces in peace support operations was regarded highly.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on ways to explore the potentials in bilateral cooperation and discussed matters pertaining to regional security and energy sector.
