REMARKS BY PRESIDENT KHALTMAAGIIN BATTULGA AT THE STATE FLAG DAY MILITARY PARADE
President of Mongolia and Commander-in-Chief of the Mongolian Armed Forces Khaltmaagiin Battulga gave opening remarks at the military parade that was held on the occasion of the State Flag Day, July 10.
Present at the ceremony were, the President of Mongolia, Chairman of the State Great Khural G.Zandanshatar, Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh, members of the Parliament and the Cabinet, leadership of the General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations, officials, citizens, and tourists.
President Battulga said:
“Fellow Mongolians,
And soldiers,
The tradition of observing the State Flag Day on the eve of Naadam, the state great festivity, continues today.
Symbolizing the perpetual presence of the flag of Mongolia blowing in the Eternal Blue Sky, we, Mongolians, must celebrate this day with pride and joy.
To Mongolians, flags and banners were a symbol of the might of the army, unity of the people, fairness of the government, and the sovereignty of the state since ancient times.
The flag of Mongolia was designed in its contemporary form and sense in accordance with a 1911 decree of the Bogd Khaan which said “Every nation has its own flag whereas it is befitting for our Mongolia to express its power and might.”
Later on July 10, 1945, Marshal Khorloogiin Choibalsan resolved to revise the provisions in the Law on the Design and Composition of the State Flag at the 43rd Meeting of the Ulsiin Baga Khural of the Mongolian People’s Republic, which became the ground for selecting the 10th of July as the State Flag Day. The original design of the state flag of the Mongolian People’s Republic was created by D.Choidog, State Prize Laureate and State Honored Art Figure, while Marshal Choibalsan defined the moment as “an event where Mongolia solemnly declared its independent status.”
The new Constitution of Mongolia, adopted in 1992, and the Law on the Symbol of State outline that “The symbols of the independence and sovereignty of Mongolia are the State Emblem, Banner, Flag, Seal, and Anthem,” and the ministries, government bodies, and state military institutions regularly hoist the state flag and every household and each citizen revere the state flag.
On this State Flag Day, I would like to extend cordial greetings to all the officers and servicemen of the state military and law enforcement institutions and my fellow Mongolians.
May the state flag of Mongolia, carrying the spirit and pride of the Mongolian people, ever be raised in the Eternal Blue Sky.
May the might of our ancestors and the eternal blue bless us.
Hurray, friends!”
The military parade engaged over 2,000 servicemen and students representing eight institutions, including the state military organizations—Mongolian Armed Forces, the General Authority for Border Protection, the Internal Troops, the National Emergency Management Agency, and the law enforcement institutions—the National Police Agency, the General Executive Agency of Court Decision, and the University of Internal Affairs (formerly the Law Enforcement University).
