PRESIDENT DISCUSSES VACCINE IMPORT OVER PHONE CALL WITH HIS RUSSIAN COUNTERPART
President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga held a phone conversation with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, today.
The dignitaries kicked off the conversation by congratulating each other on the 100th diplomatic anniversary. They both expressed appreciation towards mutual efforts to solemnly celebrating the jubilee.
The Russian President underlined that this year marks the 40th anniversary of the joint space flight and that cosmonaut J.Gurragchaa has been awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky.
Both sides agreed on broadening the long-standing friendship in all areas of cooperation and to issue a joint declaration on the 100th anniversary of the diplomatic ties in the near future.
President Battulga extended congratulations to the Russian scientists for making such advancements in the area of COVID-19 vaccine development and rollout.
Noting his receipt of President Battulga’s letter, dated February 11th, 2021, on vaccine rollout in Mongolia, Vladimir Putin said contracts are being signed with the Mongolian Ministry of Health and private firms in frames of all vaccine procurement requests.
President Battulga conveyed gratitude for the support for Mongolian Government’s request regarding vaccine procurement, and asked to expedite the Sputnik V vaccine rollout.
In response, President Vladimir Putin promised to put more efforts in prioritizing Mongolia, taking into consideration the importance of the traditional friendship.
The sides also exchanged views on the possibilities of production of Sputnik V in Mongolia, as requested by the President of Mongolia, and the President of Russia decided to set up a working group in support of the said request.
Vladimir Putin also expressed his belief that he would soon have a chance to meet the President of Mongolia in person.
