U.S. PRESIDENT SENDS CONGRATULATORY NOTE
President of the United States of America Joe Biden sent, June 24th, a note congratulating President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh on his election.
The note reads:
Dear Mr. President-elect:
Congratulations on your election as the sixth President of Mongolia. In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mongolia’s commitment to the democratic process serves as a model for the region and the world. Our countries face significant challenges in the months and years ahead, including defeating COVID-19 and combatting climate change, and I look forward to working with you to address these pressing issues.
Despite the hardship of the past year, our countries have continued to work together closely as strategic partners, including on the historic Millennium Challenge Corporation water project that will position Ulaanbaatar to sustain economic growth in the decades to come.
I also want to take this opportunity to send my sincere thanks to you and the people of Mongolia for your support of peacekeeping operations around the world. U.S. and Mongolian troops served side-by-side for 18 years in Afghanistan, and with the mission wrapping up there, we are leaving together as partners.
As we celebrate over thirty-four years of diplomatic relations between the United States and Mongolia. I am proud at how far our relationship has progressed. Looking to the future, I look forward to deepening our strategic partnership as Mongolia’s “third neighbor”, building on our shared democratic values.
