MEETING WITH THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION
President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh received Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) on July 10 in the State Palace.
At the outset of the meeting, President Khurelsukh extended his greetings on the WHO’s 75th anniversary and noted that the organization’s support, assistance, and cooperation played an important role in overcoming the challenging period of the pandemic with minimum damage.
Moreover, the President expressed his commitment to deepening cooperation with the WHO within the scope of the national campaigns, namely “Healthy Mongolian”, “One Billion Trees”, and “Food Supply and Safety”, while affirming support for the WHO’s “Health for All” goal.
For his part, WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros A. Ghebreyesus emphasized Mongolia’s prompt measures in immunizing its citizens in a short period of time to overcome the pandemic with less damage.
Dr. Tedros A. Ghebreyesus expressed his appreciation for Mongolia’s efforts to create a healthy environment, strengthen the capacity of the national health system, and fight against infectious and non-infectious diseases by increasing the funding of the health sector.
He also acknowledged the certain initiatives put in place by the Government of Mongolia to improve public health, while expressing his willingness to support and cooperate within the policy objectives in this regard.
