CLOSING REMARKS BY THE PRESIDENT OF MONGOLIA AT THE NATIONAL NAADAM FESTIVAL
My fellow Mongolians,
Distinguished guests,
Dear Naadam participants,
We, Mongolians, have solemnly and widely celebrated the National Naadam Festival, the great national pride, the source of cultural heritage, the symbol of statehood, and the delight of the people.
The Mongol Naadam, a precious cultural heritage of humankind, a grand traditional festivity that every Mongolian looks forward to and respects, where the whole nation gathers together and be enchanted by the strength and stamina of stout wrestlers, thrilled by the speed of fast steeds and entertained by the great accuracy of master archers.
We, Mongolians, should protect, cherish, promote and spread around the globe our statehood that is rich in history and traditions, and our cultural heritage, which has been handed down from our ancestors.
The Mongol Naadam is an admirable celebration of the nomads who celebrate the end of a harsh winter, the overcoming of a dread spring and the beginning of a gentle autumn.
It is therefore, as the famous saying “Autumn arrives the day after Naadam”, we, Mongolians, have a tradition of starting preparations for the harsh winter and the coming of autumn well in advance.
Remembering that preparation for any work is the cornerstone of success, the Government and the people should unite their energies, organize their work, and thoroughly prepare for the coming winter now.
There is a Mongolian proverb that “Neighbors share the same disposition and interests.”
In full apprehension of the fact that we are one Mongolia, one family and one people, we should be united by our goals and values, reinforced by sound mind and great spirit, strengthen our faith and unity, and together develop our country with optimistic aspirations and dedication.
Always remember that the fate of the country is in your hands. Let us work hard for the prosperity of our country and the future of our children.
With the great horses that are agile, the champion wrestlers that are strong, the mighty archers that are precise, and the people who are proud, the National Naadam Festival – the magnificent jubilation of the state and the people – is now officially concluding with full display of all its magnificence and spirit.
Under the power of the Eternal Blue Sky,
Under the might of the Great Chinggis Khaan,
May Mongolia rise and prosper.
