OFFICE OF PRESIDENT JOINS ACTIVISM AGAINST GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE CAMPAIGN
Staff of the Office of the President have joined the Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign and have been calling on the public to unite powers in the fight against violence. The 16 Days of Activism has been initiated by the UN General Assembly.
In its course, the Office of the President hosted open discussions themed “Improving Implementation of State Policies to Protect Children and Women against Violence, Public Participation and Control” and “Implementation and Challenges of the Law on the Rights of the Disabled”, attracting representatives of government and non-government organizations and citizens.
Mongolia has been observing the Days of Activism since 1998, for 16 days in anticipation of the Human Rights Day celebrated on December 10.
Course of activities includes observing of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (November 25), White Ribbon Day (November 25), International Women Human Rights Defenders Day (November 29), World AIDS Day (December 1), International Day for the Abolition of Slavery (December 2), World Disabled Day (December 3), International Volunteer Day (December 5) and the Human Rights Day (December 10).
Mongolia has been making substantial achievements in terms of increasing participation of men in the White Ribbon Day.
