TUVSHINBAYAR NAIDAN CHOSEN AS NEXT RECIPIENT OF CHINGGIS KHAAN ORDER
The Chinggis Khaan Order is conferred upon distinguished personalities who made priceless contributions to strengthening independence and sovereignty of Mongolia and unity of the people, and promoting historic and cultural heritages of Mongolia to the world, and performed great deeds for the state, community and the nation.
This year, the order goes to Tuvshinbayar Naidan, Olympic gold medalist for judo. The Chinggis Khaan order will be presented by President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga on November 19, the Auspicious first day of the first month of winter, according to the Lunar Calendar.
The day is celebrated nationwide as the Birthday of Great Chinggis Khaan and National Pride Day.
Chief of Staff of the Office of the President Z.Enkhbold solemnly announced the name of this year’s Chinggis Khaan Order laureate today in State Palace and said in his speech, “Judo champion N.Tuvshinbayar won gold medal at the 29th Olympics in Beijing, silver medal at the 30th Olympic Games in London, team bronze medal at the World Judo Championships 2015, gold medal at the Asian Games and gold medal at the Asian Judo Championships 2014.”
“N.Tuvshinbayar brought the first Olympic gold medal for Mongolia on August 14th of 2008, just over a month after the ‘black’ day of July 1st [of 2008]. His victory has played an important role in restoring unity and faith among the people of Mongolia and relieving the political tension of that time.
Later, in 2013, N.Tuvshinbayar challenged himself in the national wrestling competitions of the National Naadam Festivities. Having won six bouts, he earned the title of State Hawk (Ulsyn Khartsaga). In 2017, he upgraded his national wrestling title to State Elephant (Ulsyn Zaan) by defeating his rivals in seven consecutive bouts.
I extend my deepest respect and gratitude to You, Naidangiin Tuvshinbayar, a pride of Mongolia who was born with a fortune to conquer arenas of the world and to hold a great space in the hearts of Mongolians,” he said.
The National Pride Day is observed annually since 2012 as a public holiday. In accordance with the presidential decree issued on January 4th of 2012, designating the birth date of Chinggis Khaan based on the conclusions of the associated working group and the proposal by the Academy of Sciences of Mongolia, the first day of the first month of winter is celebrated as National Pride Day.
The Chinggis Khaan Order is the first-class state order of Mongolia. Initiation of the award was made by the second president of Mongolia Natsagiin Bagabandi in 2002 and the Parliament issued a Resolution [No.21] in support of the President’s initiative. The leaders of Mongolia have been presenting the Chinggis Khaan Order every year to the deserved individual since 2005. a
