Today, President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga sent an official letter to Chairman of the State Great Khural M.Enkhbold about immediately summoning the parliament for an irregular meeting.
The letter reads, “Eight days have passed since the cabinet was ousted at irregular session of the State Great Khural.
Having an acting cabinet during this critical time when we should be activating the harvesting and wintering preparations, intercepting spread of contagious hoof and mouth disease of livestock and commencing the discussion about 2018 Government Budget is resulting in stagnation of important government functions and negative economic consequences. Therefore, parliament needs to be summoned urgently in order to forward formation of the new cabinet.
In accordance with Section 3 of Article 27 of the Constitution of Mongolia, Section 1 of Article 12 of the Law on President of Mongolia and Section 16.3 of Article 16 of the Law on State Great Khural of Mongolia, I hereby propose to summon the parliament for an irregular session to take place between September 18th and 22nd.
Government functions should not be prolonged because of problems within political parties. Thus, I would like to ask you to call a parliament session within the given period”.
