Few days ago, the President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga met with Heads of the Independent Authority Against Corruption /IAAC/ and reminded them to pay more attention to the investigation of the 60 billion tugrik corruption scandal – the scheme to sell government posts, and reminded them to pay close attention to this case. Previously, during the Presidential election campaign, President Battulga had filed a claim requesting to open an investigation for this case to the Independent Authority Against Corruption. According to this claim, the Independent Authority Against Corruption has delivered an acknowledgement letter to the President of Mongolia on July 24, 2017.
In acknowledgement letter, the Independent Authority Against Corruption stated that the organization refused to open a criminal case and dismissed the complaint, because the specialists’ conclusion was issued considering the audio recording of the 60 billion tugrik was edited or montage audio.
In response to this acknowledgement letter, Chief of Staff of the President Z.Enkhbold has sent a letter requesting the Independent Authority Against Corruption to reconsider their decision and pay more attention to this case.
