PRESIDENT BATTULGA MEETS WITH HEAD OF INDEPENDENT AUTHORITY AGAINST CORRUPTION
On July 24, the President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga met with Head of the Independent Authority Against Corruption /IAAC/ Kh.Enkhjargal and Deputy Head of the organization Ts.Nyamdorj. The President criticized the slow progress of the investigation of the 60 billion tugrik corruption scandal – the scheme to sell government posts, and reminded them to pay close attention to this case.
During the presidential election campaign on July 5, President Battulga filed a claim to the Independent Authority Against Corruption personally. Since then, the Independent Authority Against Corruption has not responded to this claim yet.
In the ninety-minute audio recording, the current Chairman of the Citizens’ Representative Khural of the capital city Ts.Sandui made introduction about the scheme. After the parliamentary and local elections in 2016, he was appointed as a high-level post. President Battulga asked question on the investigation process of this case and emphasized that even the country’s reputation will depend largely on this case.
Head of the Independent Authority Against Corruption Kh.Enkhjargal said that the Authority has never questioned G.Dorjzodov, who uncovered the audio recording of the political scandal of the 60 billion tugrik.
President Battulga demanded the Independent Authority Against Corruption to make immediate response on this case.
