PRESIDENT KH.BATTULGA RECEIVES NATIONAL ICE HOCKEY TEAM
President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga received the national hockey team members who have won the ‘Asian Challenge Cup-2018’ international ice hockey tournament. In absence of continental championships in Asia, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) holds continental ranking competitions each year.
Mongolian national team of ice hockey has grabbed four bronze and one silver medals in eight years of participation. This year, the team championed the FIH Asian Challenge Cup and claimed its pass to the world championships.
Upon welcoming the hockey players, the President extended warm congratulations for triumphing at the Asian cup competition. Representatives of the Mongolian Ice Hockey Federation shared with the President their challenges.
After being presented with the obstacles facing Mongolia’s hockey development, President Battulga expressed that he is truly happy with the abilities of these athletes, who claimed great success regardless of the lack of adequate training place. He also pledged his personal support for establishing a national league of ice hockey and recruiting skillful players. The head of state promised to continue collaborating with foreign ambassadors in commencing new projects and forwarding existing ones on construction of hockey venues in Mongolia.
