PRESIDENT OF MONGOLIA KH.BATTULGA RECEIVES ASIA FOUNDATION PRESIDENT DAVID D.ARNOLD
President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga received president of the Asia Foundation David D.Arnold, on the sidelines of the latter’s visit to Mongolia.
During the meeting, Mr. David D.Arnold gave brief introduction to programs administered by the Asia Foundation in Asian region, and discussed about its cooperation and future partnership with government agencies.
David D.Arnold noted that 25 years have passed since the Asia Foundation opened its representative office in Mongolia. Since then, many project have been implemented, including the current ones on combating corruption and promoting businesswomen, he said. In connection with the President’s initiative of proclaiming 2018 as the Year of Saying “No” to and Uncovering Corruption, and Protecting Witnesses and Informants of Corruption, Mr. Arnold said the Asia Foundation would be happy to collaborate with the initiative through the Foundation’s program on government transparency and accountability. The Asia Foundation’s president also informed that the program on promoting business women involved more than 5,000 women, and that the Asia Foundation has been planning to focus on women living in Ger Areas of Ulaanbaatar.
Noting that projects under the Asia Foundation programs have been proven to be very efficient, President of Mongolia Kh.Batttulga asked Mr. David D.Arnold to pay close attention to desertification in Mongolia and the projects for diminishing the desertification. The head of state also gave insights to his policies toward minimizing desertification.
In the end of this meeting, Mr. Arnold requested President Battulga to personally get au fait with the implementation process of certain Asia Foundation programs, especially, the pilot project on promoting businesses run by women. President Battulga expressed that he accepts the request and wished success in further endeavors of the Asia Foundation.
