PRESIDENT CONGRATULATES YOUNG CHESS CHAMPIONS
On the occasion of Children’s Day, June 1st, President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga received and congratulated young chess players, who competed successfully at the 2018 FIDE World School Chess Championship, held on April 20-29 in Durres, Albania.
Mongolia was represented by 29 chess players at the championship, which gathered 387 chess players from 40 countries. Team Mongolia won two gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
Achievements of Mongolian chess players at the FIDE World School Chess Championship:
- Twice winner of the championship, vice-master of FIDE, athlete of ‘Tuv’ chess club D.Munkhzul claimed a gold medal in girls’ under 13 category to qualify for the title of master of FIDE;
- Vice-master of FIDE, athlete of ‘Tsetsen Nuudel’ chess club L.Ochirbat won a gold medal in boys’ under 11 category;
- Vice-master of FIDE, athlete of ‘Tugs Nuudel’ chess club Kh.Esugen won a silver medal in girls’ under 9 category;
- Vice-master of FIDE, athlete of ‘Gobi Chess’ chess club B.Tenuunbold won a silver medal in boys’ under 9 category;
- Athlete of ‘Zandanshatar’ chess club N.Sodgerelt won a bronze medal in girls’ under 7 category to qualify for the title of vice-master of FIDE;
- Vice-master of FIDE, athlete of ‘Gobi Chess’ chess club G.Lkhagvajed won a bronze medal in girls’ under 9 category.
